Description
It is the mixdown of two files:
1. <a href="http://freesound.org" rel="nofollow">freesound.org</a>'s kick-jazzist.wav
2. Distorted monophonic brown noise. WaveLab > Tools > Audio Signal Generator (Shift + N) > Source > Brown Noise > Mono (because we want phase-synchronicity) and then you can make it Stereo (but the audio remains actually monophonic)
Select a section of the brown noise file, that looks like having the correct waveform of a kick drum. Then trim that specific section.
WaveLab > Edit > Trim (Ctrl + BkSp)
To distort the file open from the Effects table > VST > MultiBand Compressor.
Increase the low frequencies, keep the middle as they are, lower the highs and create an ultra-high band and cut it off.
Keep the SOFT CLIP button on and render the file.
How to mix:
Keep the kick-jazzist.wav as it is (no fades).
WaveLab > File > New > Audio Montage > right click on the channel >
Insert Audio File(s) (Alt + L, select time, select file, Ins) >
Place each file on a different track
The brown noise file should start at the beginning and end at 200 msecs.
Fade it in and out. The fade in must have a small duration.
The fade out must have a long duration starting at 130 msecs, and you are allowed to draw your own fading volume line.
The brown noise file should have MutiComp as a channel effect.
Lower more the highs, but with the (channel's) soft clip off (because if we use many soft clips in tandem, we lose power (punching impact).
The overall mixdown should have MutiComp with the soft clip on.
(Don't use soft clip for quality or soft music.)
Render the file and you're done.
