picture from recording position of my rented beach-hut in Holland
Some older kids play baseball close. Right little Dutch boys playing before the have to go to there beds (on the beach).
This is a sandy beach. The waves are just 20 cm high and are about hundred meters away. It's low tide. The wind is west north-west 3bft (right from the microphone). Klankbeeld how do you know? Well, just look here: http://buienradar.nl/weerkaarten/wind
On 5km the deep humming sound of the container cargo ship the MSC GAIA coming from Antwerp with destination Rotterdam. The ship is 366 m long and has a gross tonnage of 151559 ton. The engine must be enormous. The ship is sailing only 7 knots. How do you know this klankbeeld? Well, try http://www.marinetraffic.com
More ships audible during this recording. Listen how the ships humming fades in and out during the recording ans how far the low-frequency sounds carry over the water. During this recording it moves about 5-6 km.
This sea is actually the estuary of the Schelde river in Hollands. The gate to the large harbour of Antwerp in Belgium.
Recorded: Westduin beach, Dishoek, Holland (the Netherlands)
April 28th 2013 7.30 pm, Wind W-NW 3 bft, temp 8c, clear sky.
