3 jan 2014, waves breaking over sea wall at crosby, during high spring tide in winter storm, with Applied EQ.wav
by crosbychris
Description
This is a recording of the waves splashing over the top of the seawall that defends the coast along Crosby beach. At the time of this recording, a high spring tide was coinciding with a strong passing winter storm creating huge waves and gale force winds which pushed the tied up high enough so that the waves began to break over the sea-wall and on to the promenade. I was standing on a small sand dune behind the promenade and you can hear the sound of the waves occasionally splashing over the wall, and a huge wave at 0:33, which comes nearly to my position.
It was of course very windy, and unfortunately, the wind noise was very apparent on the original recording, even though I was using the fairy windshield and a sock! I have attempted to EQ out some of the wind noise and this is the result. Does it sound any good? Well that is for you all to decide.
Recording date: 2014/01/03
Recording location: crosby, liverpool, merseyside, UK.
Recording equipment: olympus LS14 digital recorder internal cardioid microphones. EQ applied in audacity on Mac OSX.
