Description
My Silkie (chicken) roosters crowing; recorded on iPhone 4S and post-processed to remove background noise.
Silkies are unusual, bantam-sized chickens that appear to have a downy fur in place of feathers. They appeared in many sideshows in the 19th century where the exhibitors claimed that they were a demonic cross between a mammal and bird.
Their skin and flesh is blue-black and they are eaten for meat in Asia but rarely in the west where they are seen as pets or oddities.
